I'm Amani Fitzgerald, The Everyday Tutor. I am a licensed K-6 teacher and elementary private tutor with 6 years of experience. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, and am Lexia LETRS certified in Science of Reading teaching methods. Later this fall, I will begin a second Master’s in Literacy and Reading. My goal is to continue using intervention strategies and resources backed by the latest educational research to truly meet the learning needs of every child I work with.

I currently teach third grade at a CCSD public school in East Las Vegas and have experience supporting English Learners, Gifted and Talented (GATE/TAG) students, and students with disabilities. I work with students who need targeted support to build and reinforce strong literacy skills. I truly enjoy helping elementary students build strong learning habits that lead to independence, confidence, and academic growth.​

 

My approach combines structured academic support with research-based strategies, all while fostering self-awareness and confidence.  By encouraging children to question their understanding during our session, I help them develop the metacognitive skills needed to tackle problems using a variety of tools, strategies, and resources.​​

In both my professional and personal life, I aim to act upon three core values: courage, consistency, and commitment. With each child I tutor, I promote courage to take on new challenges, consistency to work steadily toward academic goals, and commitment to give their best effort through every learning experience. To sum it up, I truly believe in the power of developing a growth mindset to approach problems that first appear insurmountable.
